It may seem really early to start talking about next summer, but since I live "back east" getting to the Rockies is a major event, and I need plenty of time to plan for it. My brother is also keen to join me this next year, which will be good. I'm tossing around some destinations for—hopefully late July, although mid September might be an option too—in 2016 and I'm homing in on some of the Colorado Rockies, which I haven't done since I was a teenager many years ago, and these specific destinations I've never done at all.
I'm actually thinking of making two trips back to back—the Four Pass Loop in the Elk Mountains, followed by a day off to shower and clean up a bit, and then head off to the Mt. Sneffels Wilderness for a smaller epilogue. I'm thinking the 4-pass loop is 4 days and maybe 5 if we're slow? Does that sound right for anyone who might have done it?
And I don't really have specific destinations in mind for Sneffels yet, except maybe the Blue Lakes Pass and then back again; a 2-3 day trip at most. Any other suggestions for the Mt. Sneffels Wilderness?
