WHERE TO GO IN MARCH?

A buddy and I are looking for a 4-day backpacking trip to go in somewhere within 10-15 hours of Denver Colorado for our spring break at the end of March, I know weather is a big issue, so we have been looking at Utah (Capitol Reef) quite a bit but really haven't made up our minds on where to go. Any recommendations would be super helpful. also, any places that allow fires? I know this takes off a lot and may even be impossible because most shoulder season is desert time but was wondering.

Keep a close eye on weather if you choose this one but back in my college days I did a March spring break trip in the Gila Wilderness in New Mexico. I think that is within your given drive time from Denver... it was something like 20 hours from Lincoln NE.

Head to Bandelier National Monument NW of Sante Fe. Should be 50/30 ish for highs n lows…butttttttttt I have seen it from under a tarp snow 15 inches overnight and be 10 ish degrees. It should be closer to 50/30 normally though. It is great out there.msg me for any details if you’d like.
