Trans Zion Trek

Hi everyone,
Haven't posted in a while, but I lurk
I have some questions for you guys about the Trans Zion Trek. We are planning on doing this hike in Oct but the more I read on the permit process the more confused I'm getting! Does anyone have any info and tips on this?
It says you can apply in person the day before, but if I'm coming across country I would rather have those permits in hand

About half of the available campsites along the route are reservable online a few months in advance. Right now you can book September. Next month, starting mid-day on the 5th you'll be able to book October dates.

Just go to this link: https://zionpermits.nps.gov/wilderness.cfm?TripTypeID=1

And then pick the campsites you want. You'l probably have to do it as several individual transactions. I don't think they have a shopping cart kind of system.
