Guess the spot: Maps Edition

For some reason this song has been going through my head all day .;)

It has to be Medicine Bow Peak or Snowy Pass.

Nailed it @ZLmtns. Nice job, it's all yours.
It has to be Medicine Bow Peak or Snowy Pass.

Excellent @ZLmtns ! Thanks for the "hint".....I had fun exploring the Crow territory of the Big Horn Mountains in details (incl the Big Horn Medicine Wheel) and I read up on the CROW Indians and their females dressed in more clothing than the skimpy dressed ones featured in the video .
I looked at a lot of lakes and Jeep trails in Big Horn, but I couldn't match the map. FUN! Now I can read up on the Medicine Bow.

This time it is not a mountain or a desert feature. An historical moment happened near here long ago. Can you name the spot or what happened?Screenshot (13)_LI.jpg

I'm stumped. Route 2A has proved to be more of a red herring than anything else. I'm thinking something along the lines of the Finger Lakes, maybe Ticonderoga, but just can't place it. 2400 feet...

Hint?

Hi all. I had intended to post hints but I don't get to play on the internet while I am at work. So late afternoon is the best that I can do.
Hint 1 East of the Rockies at 2400 feet
Hint 2 The moment happened in 1823 and it is only the beginning of the story.
Hint 3 That body of water wasn't there when this happened , at least in this form.

Excellent hints and excellent selection. This is where Hugh Glass got himself ripped up by a mamma griz. Shadehill Reservoir, SD.

And I learned a whole bunch about the Arikara War that I never knew before. Bravo, sir.

You are the King !!

To continue on the theme... guess not only the spot, but also the historical significance thereof.

Clarks Fork Canyon of the Clark Fork of the Yellowstone R. In this area, the Nez Perce made an impressive escape from the US Cavalry and headed north in their vain attempt to escape to Canada.

Don't know much about history
Don't know much biology
Don't know much about a science book,
Don't know much about the French I took…

I was up in the Big Hole area recently, so it looked familiar.

OK, still on the history train, but on a railcar a little bit forward from the Indian Wars. This one is a bit arcane, so I'll give you a BIG clue:

A poor man found something here that made him a king. When he realized what it was, he said, "This will become My Life."
