Album Weather, Storms and Clouds

there is not much going on this monsoon season here in St. George.
These are the only shots I got so far,no rain so far, barely any lightning. I hope more is on the way.

Especially love that Snow Canyon shot! I've got to see that place. I'm going to miss the summer monsoon but I'll be out there in late October. Will be in touch!

Lightning at Mission Beach.jpg I got a call from a friend at 6:20 a.m. telling me that lightning was on the beach. I ran down to Mission Beach and was so excited that I forgot to set my camera correctly. But I did capture a few bolts (not the drama you get in the Southwest by a longshot, hey,it's mellow SoCal after all) but the light was beautiful and it was the best start to my morning I could have had.

You don't have to run all the way to the Grand Canyon to shoot lightning-who knew?

After spending the oddest night I have had alone in my tent, with rain, frogs, a low rhythmic grunt from a nearby bison and what can only be described as the natural sounds straight out of a horror film (I assume it was ground squirrels or something), I awoke to the storm front passing by at sunrise. I hoofed it down the ridge to the nearby road to catch the rainbow.

a few shots from that lightning storm last week in St. George. Unfortunately no great foreground and it was so freaking stormy that I had a hard time to keep my tripod from tipping over. And it is a super sturdy one. You can see how stormy it was with all the swaying bushes in the back.
