Album Weather, Storms and Clouds

yesterday I went storm chasing for the first time this year. We had some great monsoon pattern the last two days, more is on its way.:)

Very nice. I'm getting excited about another storm season in the desert. For now I watch the chases on TVNWeather.com there's a Miss Buffalo that posts there. I wondered...

Weather? Now here's a topic I like. Lots of weather out here in the plains!

Some family got hit by that one, they lost a lot of grain bins.

This photo is from the last couple minutes of the life of the tornado that hit Pilger, NE last year.

This storm sat in the Coleridge, NE area for an excruciatingly long time dropping tornadoes. I have never seen such intense lightning or a more amazingly formed storm.

Last week we had some starting storms (mix of snow and rain) during the afternoon and early evening. I hopped in the Mazdadon and took off in search of some epic sunset conditions. This was at the tail end of the sunset as the storms moved back in and all definition in the clouds were lost.. got a bit wet trying to get back through the farm field I was using, while keeping the cattle from escaping with me. on my road trip I got a few really nice storms. Not as many as I wished, but a few got me really exited.
A bit earlier I was right in the middle of this multiple warned cell at Mount Rushmore, but as soon as it started to become a high precipitation super cell, I left and tried to find a good spot at the edge of the storm.
I finally found it and that thing was so full of energy that it released a few hundred lightning bolts every minute.
This is a simple single exposure of 15 seconds
