Guess the spot

Little Cottonwood? But where?!?! That granite looks nice.
Ya gotta be careful about that Kullabergur, he knows how to throw a curve and he laid one out with the Utah hint. Since his son is in UofU I am betting it is in N. Utah since it was a weekend trip. So, granite like this NOT in LCC.... Bells, Willow, Lone Peak all come to mind. Places like Thunder ridge still have more snow than this. Course the west side of Notch Peak is pretty granite like this. Intriguing, but my mind is too tired so I will throw out a wild guess and retire. G'night.

Mid elevation Bell's canyon.

Art, I bet you're not in bed yet: Not the Wasatch.

Edit: and while Notch is also wrong, the idea is, well, sorta in the right direction.

Yes I was and now I am back up, to guess. You have granite not in the Wasatch and not in the Notch Peak area of the west desert??? Now you have my attention - potential new climbing area for me? Did you see anchors or slings?

Ooh, just thought of another guess - the Mineral Mountains just west of Beaver?

Dead on, Dan. Even the right canyon.

Your turn.

I tried to read up on climbing Granite in the Deeps, and it sounds like most of it is pretty much choss. Did you lay a hand on any of it?

I'll have to hold off on posting until later this evening. (photo access issues)

Kitty litter factory. Oatmeal. Quartz monzonite at it's worst. Probably a few gems on the darker rock.

It was actually my son and his college roommate who went - I'm now at a position where my adventures arrive vicariously. They backpacked up Red Cedar, climbed out, bivied on the ridge above and launched an unsuccessful summit bid the next day. He just got a car so they are unstoppable now, except when this happens on the way out on that 50 mile dirt road:

I'm glad he decided on a vehicle with a full size spare!
