Guess the spot

Reminds me of the rim at the exit of Fish Canyon.

Isn't that the Abajos? Could this be the open terrain north of the Abajos and north of the road in to the Needles?

Way off from the others... El Morro/El Malpais NM? I've never been to either but this reminds me of a picture I think I've seen from one of them.

@Scott Chandler is up, El Malpais it is. Might look familiar because the same overlook is currently on the nps website https://www.nps.gov/elma/index.htm . The low spot on the left is a lava field. It flowed up against a sandstone escarpment, creating a great place to watch sunsets. The mountain in the background is Taylor.

Art... I liked your guess, it made me homesick.
Well this El Malpais looks neat too. I am going there. Is there any fine informal camping to be done? Doggies allowed in the monument?

I've only ever stayed at Joe Skeen campground, which has always been pleasant but I imagine could get crowded sometimes. There are backcountry spots but I've never made an overnight hiking trip. I think pets are allowed but the lava is pretty rough to walk on. Wear good boots.
