Guess the spot

Ben, so I am up ... do understand in what you are saying. I myself have been both by train and shuttle bus from between Talkeetna and Denali. And I know it was on that side of the mountains. Nice Country in there. Glad that you were able to see that country.

Now here is my photo .... somewhere I love and where I have been many a time. Great wild place where one can be all by their lonesome.

Looks a lot like the Absarokas, maybe Teton Wilderness. Is it along the S Fork of the Yellowstone?

Jackson, Yes it is in the Absarokas and the Teton Wilderness Country but it is NOT the South Fork of the Yellowstone. It is almost like a twin to the South Fork of the Yellowstone though in it's scenery.

Now for several hints ... the mountains that form the backdrop is indeed where the Continental Divide runs. And this drainage in itself does NOT have an official forest service trail up the drainage on the maps. But there is indeed an unofficial trail or route up this drainage, which is usually not maintained, to the bend in the canyon then it peters out so to speak. Nearby at the base of this drainage, where the creek that runs thru this drainage runs into it's next creek drainage, there is indeed a well known and very much used trail. But official in this canyon, it is off the beaten path and one can be all by their lonesome up in this area. For all the use on the nearby trail at the base of the drainage, no one comes up into here much at all. Mountain Paradise!

As for myself, I have camped nearby and dayhiked up in here often. I have camped in here also. And have gone up and down this drainage from hiking and wandering along the Continental Divide up on top.

Did I baffle everyone with this photo, even with the hints? If so then interesting do think for it is such a nice spot.

So in editing this post ... will enumerate again the hints from this morning.
1.) Yes it is in the Absarokas and the Teton Wilderness
2.) The cliffs and mountains in the background are along the Continental Divide
3.) The drainage itself on the maps is officially trailess even though a route up the lower drainage exists
4.) Nearby is a drainage with a trail heavily used by both outfitters and hikers

Wishing Everyone the Best!

Scott, Nope ... Sorry! But actually the North Buffalo Fork and area is not not that far away from this spot as the Raven flies.

Guess no one will get this if I don't give it away ... now after the hints above, another hint like above ....

5.) .....
It is not far from the North Buffalo Fork as the Raven or Eagle flies
It is not that far from Two Ocean Pass
And actually it is not that far from Hawks Rest in the Thorofare, for have hiked from there to here before in oneday easily

Now with all of these hints, I have given this place away.

Scott, Nope! Mink / Falcon Creek is to the north from this area. And the Mink / Falcon Creek drainage has a known trail. This drainage by my hints earlier does NOT have an official trail and on the maps is shown to be trailess.

Scott, Yes!!! This is it!!! You got it .... Yea!!! Now you are up.

Jay Creek is a jewel of a place with right close to busy Atlantic Creek with all the people going to and from the Thorofare. But hardly anybody goes up into beautiful Jay Creek. These meadows up in Jay Creek are gorgeous. Also have always seen Grizzly sign when up in Jay Creek. Now earlier you guessed the North Buffalo Fork, that area is right on the other side of those cliffs.

Haha thanks. I don't usually pull out a map and just start pointing but no one else was biting at the clues. Looks really gorgeous up there.

Now it looks to me as probably some mountain range down in Colorado somewheres maybe. One reason in thinking this as the mountains are more sloping and not as glacieated as sometimes further north maybe. But for sure not the Collegiate Range do think. Nice Pic! Noticed in the grass all the elephanthead flowers that are blooming.

Would guess more but right now before Christmas, have a bunch of time at work to attend to right now.
