2 questions:

Is it in California? And is this a picture from a trip you were part of?

not in California. Joey , would your intimate knowledge of the places i've been give you an unfair advantage over other guessers? i'll own up though. i took this picture.

Haha, it is an advantage. I'll disqualify myself. But I have no idea where its at. Beautiful picture.

High in back is Granite Peak......MT

haha ......we posted almost the same time....

Doesn't look like you failed due to weather. Do tell.....

A number of factors to the failed Gannett attempt. Late start, long and nasty boulder-hopping approach that wiped out our legs, too many miles the previous day, lack of top-notch fitness =), and we didn't plan out the route well enough. One tiny wrong "turn" in our approach lead us to the base a glacier (part of Minor Glacier I think) that was way too steep (and rock hard) for us to safely continue on our poor tired legs. We want to go back and try it again some day!

you got it @Jackson . and @Bob , you were correct also. Granite Peak is looking over the shoulder of Cairn Mountain, looking NNW from Mount Dewey. same spot i posted my last "guess the spot" of Fossil Lake from: )

You are up Jackson.....I was typing while you posted

I got lucky on that one. Hoping to summit Granite Peak sometime in the next few years. Really cool shot of it, @Ben. I haven't seen pictures of it from that vantage point before.

Here's mine. Name the prominent peak in the back.

Benito, what compass direction are you looking towards for the shot of Granite Peak? From the south? I've been in close-ish from the south and couldn't see that.

@Art , directly East of Fossil Lake is Mount Dewey. I'm standing on top of it.

caltopo tells me this.
Bearing 154.7° True 143.4° Magnetic
Distance 8.709 km / 5.411 mi

and tell me, where, more specifically, have you been, near the south side of Granite.
