Guess the spot: Utah Edition

That's the closest yet--it's Highway 143 in Parowan Canyon, right around here. Take it!
Crazy! I was up and down that area. Two things threw me, the burn areas vs street view, but mostly the wild exaggeration that that zoom produced. I was looking for something with a much sharper curve.

When I don't think about it day to day I forget the order of the rock layers but it seems the upper 2/3 of the canyon is Cedar Mesa sandstone. So I'll toss in Johns Canyon.

Makes me think of a question for all: Is it cooling off in the higher reaches of the Cedar Mesa canyons by late September? I really can't travel before Nov 1 but I am feeling the need to make an exception if I can get the time off.

Great observation. Yes this was taken at the end of the road. About right here 37.31219, -109.96421. I had previously stopped at the waterfall in years past and had seen the two track heading north, so I ventured up a few yeas ago. Found a nice camp spot a little ways up and then explored until the road ended the next morning. The road to the end is narrow with the wilderness boundary signs to either side. Would make for a good starting point for a day hike up canyon.

I did Collins in late September 2019, as I recall the temps weren't too bad. Summer of 2019 was a no show for the monsoon, so it was bone dry, I couldn't find a source of water anywhere.
In normal monsoon years, at least in Phoenix, we can still get late September storms, so it's always something to watch for. This year has been especially good. It's 4:30 pm at the end of July and it's 78 degrees, seriously how often can I say that.
Hopefully this will provide plenty of supply for the springs.
Curious to know what others experiences are in this area as well for that time of year.

No way, really? Are you saying I am right? end of the John's road above the spring...I have only looked at the area from just under the east rim searching for sites. Except for the upper western headwater forks and the lower road no one seems to bother with Johns. I want to explore everything upstream of the photo! I did a short loop in the upper forks of the upper west fork so there's much more to see.

We have camped quite a few times in John's, upper and lower. I love the area you explored, great car camping for kids. The lower section is quite different from the upper part, different vibe from any canyon on Cedar Mesa.

I'm going to try a broad guess to get us in the right area or eliminate an area.
This feels like it's somewhere in the area between Moab and Monticello.
I know, a "slightly" large area, but I hope it helps get us closer.

Yes. And closer to Moab than Monti. The photo disguises some obvious things natural and human constructed
