Guess the spot: Utah Edition

What’s it hauling and approximately where is it?
Well, if you want specifics, it's hauling stuff and things and is somewhere between the Eastern and Western borders of Utah.

OK, I can't say you're wrong, so you're up! :)

You do realize that you're setting a new standard for guessing, right? LOL

Well I was trying to draw out a real answer.... you have full rights to tell me I'm wrong far as I'm concerned. I'll give it another day or two then post up a spot if nobody else knows what that train is.

Well, you know that's the tailings train from Moab to Crescent, so you might as well go ahead and take it. But a new bar has been set and I for one intend to take advantage of it. :)

Well that's fair, I guess. And that was my actual guess, whether you believe me or not!

So anyway, where is this corral?

Agreed! I've been away far too long, tough I'm not sure I would have much to post that wouldn't go in 2 seconds. I going to guess somewhere in Capitol Reef?

Been so long I forgot about this too. It is in the Escalante drainage, but not Fiftymile. Capitol Reef NP is not terribly far away from this spot.

Are you down along Pleasant Creek on the Notom Road?

ETA Never mind, didn't see the Fiftymile ref.

On the horizon, is the mountain we're looking at, Boulder or part of the Henry's? Trying to get a general sense of which direction we're facing.

Boulder Mountain in the background. And I did just notice that this corral is not marked on USGS topo maps.

You've got it!

I grew up raising cattle and always enjoy checking out old corrals. There are some interesting ones in the desert.
I wasn't entirely sure if that was correct, but I'd noticed that corral in Google Earth years ago and had a waypoint there, so when I started looking at your clues it just jumped out at me.

And on a tangent, has anyone noticed this old road that runs from Deer Creek to the Gulch? It's most noticeable where the Burr Trail crosses Deer Creek (here), but I've followed it all the way south to here. There's basically no mention of it in Steve Allen's Canyon Country Place Names except where the "sixth trail" leaves the Gulch, but this was clearly an old wagon road rather than a stock trail.

Anywho, next up:
