Guess the spot: Utah Edition

got it.

This is an under-loved trail that I figure needs a bit more attention -- the upper third or so (counting Porter Pass as the end of the trail) is getting a bit overgrown! I was just there yesterday and didn't see anyone else there, even on the considerably-more-popular bottom mile to the overlook
I was going to say- sure doesn't look like there's any trail in the photo! Let me rummage up a photo. Coming up with new Utah Guess the Spot content is getting harder since I haven't lived there for a bit!

That there is a good trail........ !!!

yep, figured this one would go quick
Definitely has me wondering where you're standing still! Looks a little higher/more precipitous than most of the bluffs around there that aren't north of Torrey.

I think the area is called the Velvet Ridge. It's an easy drive to get there from Torrey starting on the Sand Creek road and mostly taking left turns, then I parked and walked south to a nice overlook. It's a cool area and nobody else was up there on (iirc) the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, but it's pretty seriously cross-crossed with ATV trails up there, and definitely gets plenty of visitation, given how close it is to Torrey

hmm... the cliff line in the background seems key. the light layer near the top maybe rules out the Straight Cliffs? the light layer + some possible moenkopi/entrada in the foreground makes it feel like the Hanksville area but that's all I've got
