Guess the spot: Maps Edition

Dangit, I keep thinking I should know that, but everytime I think I might have it, I check my topos and I'm wrong.

But I am loving those contour lines. The more I look at those cliff faces, and the plateaus on top running right up to sheer drop-offs, I get a little aroused. Is that wrong that topo maps work like porn for me?

Delano Peak!

I've been thinking about doing a loop around/over Delano for a while but I'm just not sure that the trails that exist on the map - exist in real life.

Can you load this some other way, my computer won't let me open it. Imgur is blocked and yes, I am at work.

Thanks!

Larry... You don't need trails to climb Delano. It is a beauty romp up through open meadows of deep green meadow plants and wildflowers. You can go up anywhere and down anywhere. Recommended!

I moved it onto our server so you should be able to see it now.

Feel free to upload all your images right here to BCP, Larry. We've got plenty of space.
Thanks Nick...

Art, the mountain is part of a group of mountains whose name ends with "...Range".

What, not very helpful? Ok then, the highest peak in the frame has a silly-sounding name and is a looooooooooooong ways from anywhere.

Yahoo! Sounds great! I am concerned with the trails down below treeline actually existing... specifically the one on the east side of the ridge. Forest service is notorious for letting trails go the way of the dodo, especially as the 7.5' topos are beginning to age...

Made a map the better part of two years ago... I'll do it some day! Click here to view on CalTopo

You don't need no stinkin' trails! Seriously more than half your route is at or above treeline. You can see forever.

My memory isn't complete because it was 30 years ago but I 4wd'd up to that Big John Flat in twilight. In the early light I beelined up to the summit and back. I don't remember any navigation difficulty or even an walking through forest. I remember that the ascent went very quick and I was looking around trying to figure out what else to do :)

@Nick will like this part... I was new to the wilds. When I got to the meadow (flat) I noticed a big elk herd at the other end of the meadow - it was just light enough to see them. I threw my tarp out and bag on top. I had a beer and went to sleep. I was awakened by a whole lot of yipping and yelling and feet running around. It was a whole passel of coyotes in the meadow having fun. I was green and got a bit nervous - now I know there is nothing to fear from coyotes in the wilds. I scooted my bag under the jeep and went to sleep when the shenanigans died down. Big fun and a great peak. Recommended. Even better as a backpack as you intend. The Tushars.

Very helpful. Well it is not the Brooks Range or the Wrangell/St. Elias Range. I'll have to leave it to someone more clever than me.

Trails........ what are trails .............. wait I think we had this discussion :)

This one is driving me crazy.... yeah, short drive, I know. From the treeline, it appears to be southern CA , northern AZ or northern NM, but I cannot find the "Range" that has this ridge.
