Are you referring to the old mining track coming down off Cedar Mountain? I haven't heard of any recent controversy, but that's the only trail I can think of that goes up the mountain (though it's many decades old).You got it. Holy cow. I have never, ever walked 97 constructed switchbacks. I wouldn't want to. The peak/ridge being near 14K feet it ain't Utah, nor Wyoming, nor Arizona or Idaho. I am going with an East Side High Sierra trail. I know, not very specific but it is the best I can do. Good puzzle.Time for a clue: there's allegedly 97 switchbacks on the east side approach.

Haha Ben! Close. The peak is Mt Muir. No wonder I never saw those switchbacks before. When I did Mt. Whitney I only had one switchback.. straight up the east ridge.mt whitney
