Guess the spot: Maps Edition

I immediately went to Minnesota. Looked around a bit, ended up drifting a ways west by accident. And Boom! I had no idea there was a place with so many lakes in N Dakota.

Lake Metigoshe.

I've looked around there on Google Maps before. Such a weird little area. I wondered if it was a southern edge of the Canadian Shield, but it looks like it doesn't extend that far in that direction.

Definitely unique. Looking down on the area on Google Earth, it looks like a basin, but then to see it's in the Turtle Mtns. Fascinating.

You got it @Outdoor_Fool

I have eyed the area a bit, it is certainly fascinating. Not sure how much of a destination it is but might be a fun stop for a day or two passing through someday.

It appears to have been formed as a "dead ice moraine" from a remnant of the Wisconson glacial ice sheet. A part of this article explains the area's geology about as well as anything I found: https://www.dmr.nd.gov/ndgs/ndnotes/ndn15.asp#:~:text=The Turtle Mountains are underlain, thick layer of glacial sediment.
