Bears Ears National Monument

To clarify, this is the link to comment just on Bear's Ears, correct? I believe someone else in this thread mentioned there is one window for commenting on all the Monuments that will be under review by this ridiculous order, and a separate window for commenting on Bear's Ears specifically.

I'm not sure. It appears to be the main monument review link but I'm not finding another link. This is the link that some of the Bears Ears groups are promoting. Looking into it...

The site mentions several monuments up for consideration.

The link is for commenting on the general concept of a review of all of monuments that are in consideration. All together and in general - there are many proposed for review.

Alright, I checked this thread: https://backcountrypost.com/threads/antiquities-act-public-comment.6792/ which contains the following link to the Dept. of Interior's press release: https://www.doi.gov/pressreleases/i...ents-under-review-announces-first-ever-formal

Here is what the DOI press release says about dates:
DATES: The Department will shortly publish a notice in the Federal Register officially opening the public comment period. Written comments relating to the Bears Ears National Monument must be submitted within 15 days of publication of that notice. Written comments relating to all other designations subject to Executive Order 13792 must be submitted within 60 days of that date.

My impression is that there is one single place to comment, but that after 15 days they will ignore any comments pertaining to Bear's Ears (the entire comment, or just the part that mentions Bear's Ears?). I'm not sure I follow the logic there, and there is probably some nefarious reason for cutting off public comment after only 15 days for what is probably the most high profile National Monument to be reviewed.

The entire Craters of the Moon monument is up for possible revocation and my least favorite thing cattle grazing. A few weeks ago there was talk of a national park. Now the BLM wants to move in herds of cattle.

Well so much for the announcement on the deadline date. Going to keep an eye out for it the next few days though

Well hopefully he takes more than 5 minutes to peruse all the comments that were left before he makes a decision, lol.

Good article @Jackson. At least the debate has shifted from "should there be a monument at all" to "how big should the monument be." I imagine this will still be a hard fight for them, given how many cultural sites there are in this area. They will essentially be trying to build requirements into the Antiquities Act, which should be a battle at the least.

I was reading the New York Times and came across a leaked report on possible modifications to the National Park system.
