WooohoooOO! After a break from trips to finish this years trail guides project, I finally got to get out for some quality time. We decided not to sell the pontoon so we took it out for some time on the Escalante. We camped just up canyon from LaGorce Arch in Davis Gulch so we had plenty of time to hike and kayak in Davis. This was sunset from the arch room on Friday night.

Mesa Verde does a twilight tour of Cliff Palace, the largest cliff dwelling around. It makes for a great excuse to spend a couple nights there.

Yeah...I've noticed a big fire-ring up there before and thought it'd be a cool place to camp with all the valley lights below. I figure it's probably a popular spot for events like Stadium of Fire on 4th of July, but then again, there's really only a few spots that can comfortably take a one to two person tent. Since I have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off this month, I figured there'd be nobody else up there camping up there mid-week and I was right. On my way down, there was an older couple trail running up. I wouldn't camp there on a weekend though with how many people hike up there then.
