Crazy to see that alcove with so much water. Is the "island" between the lake and the canyon submerged entirely? Looks like a great b-day trip! Happy birthday

Did you take the Jacob's Ladder, or Alpine Approach?

Started up Cherry Logging trail out of Draper, then bypassed Bear Canyon by joining up with Jacobs Ladder higher up by Eniss Peak.

The alcove by Gregory isn't underwater. The entire sand dune is gone and there was a houseboat parked at the edge of the alcove. This site was further up the canyon, right here: https://www.google.com/maps/place/37°19'24.0"N+110°57'08.7"W/@37.323338,-110.954617,1228m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d37.323338!4d-110.952423. The water extended all the way up through the subterranean section of the narrows.

Holy shit. I really wish I would have been able to make time to get down there before it was underwater. Maybe we'll have another drought .

It was only about 7-8 feet deep in the subterranean narrows and around 25 feet deep where we camped. It should be hike-able again this fall or next spring but it could be gone for a long time if we have another big water year.

Here's a gut wrenching alternate view of the campsite we just stayed in. The shadowed ledge on the right of the hikers in this photo is the same ledge that you can see lit up by the sun underwater in the photo below.
