    White Pine-July 2014

One of my favorite hike. It started off with a beautiful sun and then rain and then hail. I actually ended up getting stitches on my leg due to losing my balance so I named my scar "claws." Trying to stop the bleeding. Found a shelter and waiting for the hail to stop.

    Pfeifferhorn-July 2014

Hard hike and lots of scrambling. The Pfeifferhorn is located in the most isolated part of the Lone Peak Wilderness Area. There is no easy route to the summit, all approaches involve a minimum of 4 1/2 miles of trekking and over 3700' of elevation gain. A round trip from the White Pine...

    Obelisk Hike-July 2014

This hike can be confusing when you look at top and you are trying to figure out which is Obelisk to summit. Sunset Devil's Castle Hike-July 2014

This is one of my favorite hike. Devil's Castle is a dark, rugged peak that rises above Cecret Lake in Albion Basin high above Alta Ski Resort. Albion Basin is a beautiful place and Devil's Castle provides the ultimate backdrop. The rock of Devil's Castle is of high quality and is surpassed only...

    Sunset Thayne Peak-August 2014

Thayne Peak is a knob high above Mill Creek Canyon near the Tracy Wigwam Boy Scout Camp. Because this peak is lower than the nearby peaks to the south, it makes for a good late spring hike. Because the Thayne Canyon Trail is on the north side of the mountains, almost the entire way is forested.

Catherine's Pass to Sunset Peak Raining Day-August 2014

The trail has some nice easy level spots and some spots that are just the opposite. It all evens out to be a nice moderate trail with some astounding views. Park in the area at the top of the Sunnyside lift, and cross the road to the trailhead. It is flat for a little while and then rises up...

    Sugarloaf Peak-August 2014

Sugarloaf Peak is an easily reached 11,000 ft. summit which overlooks Albion Basin, Secret Lake, and much of Utah's Alta ski resort. The easy terrain and relatively high trailhead elevation combine to make Sugarloaf Peak arguably one of the easiest of the Wasatch 11'ers to ascend.

Climbing Reynolds is as easy as.....1 .............2 ..............3 Got some footage on the way down to the next stop. Using Picasa 3 I still have issues posting it up so no hope looking at that. :( The gopro camera feature is all that worked at Big Water Gulch so I at least got a shot of...

    Video: Northern Utah

So with some time off for the holidays I finally got around to putting a video together from my trip to Utah this past September. I'm a video editing noob, so constructive criticism is certainly appreciated. In the end, this is just a souvenir for myself. Something to remember the trip by...

    Jack's Mountain, March 2009

An old trip report that I am moving over from my blog before I shut it down for good. Another half dozen or so like this coming soon. Sorry to clutter the place up with these old ones, but I don't want to lose them. :) ---- March 2009 This is just a short day hike from the Bonneville...

Catherine Pass, Sunset Peak & Brighton Lakes

Here's another trip report from my summer of hiking for a living. Whenever I'd plan out my trails, I would try to plan hikes where I could knock out more than one trail guide at a time. This one was a perfect one for that, but was also one of the worst reminders of the year that my knee was...
