Album Wildlife

These are some AWESOME wildlife shots! That mule deer buck at sunset is stunning. FYI The Nature Conservancy has a photo contest every year and use the finalists for their calendar. They heavily favor wildlife shots and I'm sure some of these would make the finals. I have two photos that made the finals this year but they are landscapes so not sure how far I'll get, should find out in the next few weeks. If any of you are interested in next year's contest check out www.nature.org and click on My Nature, then click on Photography. I really want to see that sunset buck on a calendar!!! The little pika with a mouthful of leaves would be great, too. And the fighting elk. I could go on and on....!

woke up some bighorns one day while wandering the Petrified Dunes area of Arches National Park.
the one on the left is still asleep - and yes, it appears that it is using a small boulder as a pillow!
The one which is watching me was still asleep for a few moments after i descended onto this ledge.
taken just above the rim of lower Courthouse Wash due east of the LaSal Overlook.

as I was hiking further south along the rim, I looked back to see the following.... and wished that I had a good camera with a telephoto lens instead of the 8MB point & shoot I had at the time. One lone bighorn in the middle of the shot.

Just a porcupine and a garden variety coyote shot.

while browsing my website I found a few very old Coyote pictures I've taken in Death Valley many years ago with a point and shoot camera.
It was a perfect trip with a lot of Coyote sightings

not the best shots, but I somehow like them. Coyotes are really nice to watch

Those Kestrels sure are a pretty bird. The one living around my house has emptied my bird feeders, from birds. We've watched him kill a few finches over the past two months. I'm went from filling my feeders 3 times a week to not filling them. It's been over a month and a half sense I had to fill them.

That shot of the rough-legged hawk is awesome!
