wes242 , those are some awesome pics! What lens you shooting with? 100-400?

The Elk shot was with my 100-400, but the others were with the Canon 500mm f4. I sold it after I got married But at least it was to a friend who lets me borrow it here and there.

I miss that lens!

I've been thinking about picking up the 100-400 or picking up a 2x teleconverter for my 70-200 2.8 IS. I can only dream about the 500 f4....

I have a 70-200 2.8 non IS and used to have the 2x at the same time I had the 100-400 and both are sweet lenses. But the extender just didn't look as good as the 100-400mm. I have had that lens for 8 years now and it is worth it. I love the 70-200 also, but both just serve different purposes. I do a bit of landscape panos with the 70-200, I wish every lens looked as good as this one.

here is a series of pelican shots I took a few years ago at Maho Bay, US Virgin Islands.
I really like pelicans, but they are so fast and somehow difficult to capture.
All pictures are taken with my old Nikon D40 and handheld.
