Uintas Conditions 2018

Hopefully it won't be on the side of the road waving someone down to get me un-stuck.

Not to worry. I’ll have the Chevy ready to pull you out [emoji12]

I went backpacking over the weekend. There was no snow on the road. we went and hiked to scout lake and stayed in the cabins. It was a pretty epic adventure. Overnight low of 14 deg, but we all stayed warm and toasty. needless to say, the cabins were a huge help as we had somewhere to store our gear that wasn't snowy and also it offered a huge wind break. That's actually a great idea! How have I never thought to do that?

I'm not sure if it is officially allowed. I mean we had to move some tables that were stored int he cabins, put we did put them back when we left.
Either way it is a great spot to winter camp while the highway is still open.

Has anyone been up to the Crystal Lake area in the last few days? I'm just wondering how much snow is on some of the trails in the area.

We drove up and went for a short hike yesterday. We hiked to Long Lake. There were a few spots on the trail that were covered with slushy snow/ice and a few sections that were a little muddy, but for the most part the trail was pretty clear and in good shape.
