Uintas Conditions 2018

Yea, looks a little bleak. It will probably be melting off over the next week though per this extended weather forecast.

I would not count on the north facing drainages, or terrain above 9500 feet to melt out very fast. Anywhere that has sun will thin out. But the sun has moved south in the sky and the days are shorter and the cold nights are longer.

I am not sure where you got that forecast from. That looks like the forecast at my house here in the valley for the next seven days. This is the point forecast for Bald Mountain Pass out there for the next seven days on the National Weather Service site.

I see a high of 36 on Friday, and a low of 11 on Sunday night. That snow is not going to melt very fast with those temperatures. I think winter has come early this year to the high terrain here in Utah.

Ain’t the desert great?!

Yes it is. I was gonna do one more backpacking trip to Boulder Mountain but it's got 20" of snow. I want to go to the desert next weekend. Any recommendations for some good car camping/day hiking down there?

If you want to hang out with some really nice people, there's a meeting of Tiger Provan owners at the Wedge the 16th through the 19th. You don't have to own a Tiger to attend, and it's free. They mostly sit around and talk about how much fun they're having. :)

Just depends on how much time you have and what you want to do. For short weekends, The Swell or Capitol Reef areas are close and hard to beat.

I've been to the Swell and Capitol Reef. Those are for sure on the list. Hoping for clear skies and lots of star views.

I wont be able to leave town till the 19th. But that sounds fun! I like tigers!

I just filed for a trademark on it. :)

Actually, it's taken, some kind of cart thingy you pull while hiking - I dunno, something like that.

Sooooo... I was just thinking about camping up near Bald Mountain Pass this weekend in my camper to test out how it will be in the winter. Zoomed in for some street view to see if there was a gate on a road and...

This has to be the most ambitious Google Street View driver in the history of the world. See it yourself. Look at street view right here: 40.676579, -110.943122
