I enjoy night hiking, but really just thought sundown was an hour later, and intentionally kiiled time throughout the day so I wouldn't get to camp early!

They'll actually hit you with a fine($50, I think) for hiking at night if you're caught.
I got a warning ticket for offtrail hiking there a while back:rolleyes:

We have hardly been on trail or seen many people for 5 weeks, so yesterday was a bit of a wake up call :) . The vast majority of people on the trail were Europeans incl many ultra fit St George Iron Man participants.

Rest day for our legs:

Notice the little boy, he hiked most of the way (Swiss family).

I was in St George/ZNP last week. I think I saw as many European competitors as American:)

Two days in a row (close to a TH) we met an elderly couple out hiking with poles. Second day we found out they were in their 90’s, out hiking! She was 95. Pretty impressive! They said that they don’t meet a lot of people their age on trail. No kidding…. We asked what their secret is, what have they been doing all life? They said: keep moving and eat healthy!
Later it crossed my mind that we should probably up the difficulty of our remaining hikes this week.

Nice rare crested Saguaro

An unusual Saguaro, the main leading stem died off in early life and many side arms formed very early on

After hiking off trail for many weeks I can’t follow cairns anymore, they were invisible yesterday! But you got to get across those saddles:

Love all that slick rock :)

I remember those steps! Jo's comment was that they must have been built by someone with long legs as I found them easy, but at 5'1" she needed me to guide her feet into place on a couple of them.

The moki steps are super easy climbing up, but like Jo I also needed guidance going down the first time.
