On the PA turnpike, we've driven under the Laurel Highlands bridge many times and have wondered about the trail. I see that the bridge is around mile 37, whereas you were at the eastern end. Have you hiked much of the trail? If so, what's it like?
Fabulous to see lupine in March! Thanks for giving us a hint of what's to come elsewhere later on. Great desert scenery there!Lupines along trails in Tucson

On route to Wasson Peak, just after trail drama. 2 guys came running downhill on a much rockier section of this trail. The first guy was going fast downhill, turned while running (!) to alert his buddy of us coming uphill, but lost balance and ended up falling downhill in the cacti and rocks. Knee cut up, loads of spines in the knee and in the belly. Ouch!!! Rick dug out his tweezers and gave him plenty of antiseptic wipes. 15 mins later another couple arrived and gave him gauze and Tylenol. Hope he’s recovering well.
