Thanks, we're sure lucky to have him, he absolutely loves camping and hiking. He's done Ding and Dang twice now, and while he doesn't love being lowered down ledges, he likes everything else about it.

and yes, dog cam is the best!

Here is our English Springer Spaniel George.

He loves the snow but sometimes it takes a warm shower to get the snow balls off his fur.

awesome. My dog gets snow stuck to his fur too. We use dogsled booties to keep it from sticking to the hair between his toes, but it still gets all over his legs.

Awww... going through some old photos and loving these of Nikita back when she was young and still had lots of black in her face. For those that aren't subjected to my frequent posts on Facebook, we've been fostering for Best Friends lately (we're a 5 dog house right now!) and it has really gotten me thinking I need a new furry hiking partner now that Nikita is in retirement and since my other two dogs hate to leave the house.

Dogs who hate to leave the house? where can I find such dogs. :)
My dogs would do anything to get in car when I am driving down for grocery or something.

Okay, I should qualify that statement. They LOVE to leave the house. Car rides are the best. Heck, hiking is fun. They just hate to do it for more than an hour and the idea of not sleeping under a down comforter in a warm house is just too much to bear for them.

Do they have a winter dog-house in st george too? :D

I don't blame them for wanting to sleep comfortably.

This is a shot from the early 1980's that I just found. We were at Hot Creek on the Owens River near Mammoth Mountain (in the background) on July 4th for closing day of skiing. Our friends dog's name is sadly forgotten, but he made the perfect pose.

Well, it's official. I have a new hiking buddy. Meet Sage. :)

Not sure exactly what mix she is, but she's small. Only 35 pounds and pretty much full grown at more than a year old. She has a reasonably thick coat for cold weather but is mostly white so she should handle the desert great too. Small enough to stuff in a sleeping bag or carry. Loves people. Loves dogs. I think she might just be the perfect hiking dog. Time to start re-planning my 2014.

She's beautiful, Nick! Great name, too! Hopefully Torrey and Boulder will get to meet her out in the desert someday. :)

I've posted these in my trip reports, but here are a few recent photos of my pups. Boulder is now 7 months old and Torrey is 7 years old.
