Album The dogs of backcountrypost.com

Jack did fair with the pack today, wouldn't run at all though. Tomorrow we take it out for real. His first BP trip.

Balto... My dogs really tone it down when the pack is on too. Unless they hear the squeal/chirp of Pika's in the distance. Then it is off to the races. I've seen them 1/2 mile off in the distance on alpine tundra running full tilt with their bright backpack's bouncing along with my stove and wine getting shaken to bits!

You are right. Once Jack got the hang of the pack he was good to go. Didn't like it but carried it. He still dove into every creek we crossed, chased every critter he got wind of and even got his freezer bagged dog food a little wet. The pack stunk so bad when we got home, pheeeew It's hanging in the garage as I type and will be until the next trip.

I can't believe you trust your dogs with your wine, food maybe, wine never. Might try the stove on him next time though.

You are right, that is probably a bad idea. I will have entrust them with something less important, like the first aid kit or the bear spray!

Zola gettin' her salt... Is it sketchy walking the dog out this far from "shore", or low-key, walk-on-a hard-surface with no suprises?
There were some soupy streams and overall everything was a little spongy and wet, but very comfortable walking. I wore crocs

Nick,
Actually it's not my video and not my entry, regardless, it's great you went ahead and voted. We just happened to be in that event organized by that woman in the dog park and hence the pic, :) I won't mind another decent dog park here in the valley though.

Here are couple of shots of Rudy during a day hike in the Sawtooths a couple of weeks ago.
