Album Snow and Winter Shots

This was the temp in the tent in the morning.
Without the wind it felt downright balmy compared to right after a dinner of cuban sliders and ham bean soup.

Snowed on and off, but got a little sun at times on the way out.

Love the snow on red rock!
Some pix from a very springlike last week.
Groomed trails higher in the mountains were in great shape!:

Shallow new snow and a supportive snowpack meant excellent conditions for meadow wandering on skinny skis:

Spring touring time in the backcountry is here, with warmer weather, easy travel, and generally more stable and predictable avalanche hazards:

It's the time of year to get up high.
P1130752-copy-2.jpg
The turns in the alpine were only OK, but I heard no complaints.

Powder skiing on our final run back into the valley bottom.
P1130794-copy-2.jpg
Great scenery throughout:

The grass is definitely greener!

One more kick at the winter can here. The weather has been all over the place as usual for April. Canoeing in shorts and tee or biking dry dirt one day, then a spring snow storm the next. This week we are on the cusp of full-on spring in the city and foothills, with a major warmup also in effect for the mountains. Monday may well have been be my last ski day of the season. No regrets about that- I'm ready for summer. A handful of pix from Monday's ski tour along the Icefields Parkway north of Lake Louise, or, the full story here:

Nice. I went fishing a couple hours Friday. But for everything being brown, you’d have thought it was a summer day :(
