I took advantage of the rare snow in Southern Utah and snowshoed to the viewpoint

and low teens bring out the Hoarfrost (the cows also had frozen snot, but I did not realize it would make a good pic. Instead I just cruelly laughed at them since I had trouble feeling my own fingers):

It snowed in Zion so I went and hiked the West Rim Trail in the snow.

It was as cold as it looks (-30 C) along the Bow River, on a 2 hour xc ski tour from our back door on Boxing Day:

I would love to have your snow and cold temperatures. I'm a true winter person, the more snow the merrier.
At least we will get a bit more tonight so I can play again tomorrow

There is a lot more snow outside my house, but I am still catching up from the desert last week.





Might need to wait a little bit to ford or packraft this.

I told my son these were my best pics of the year. He did not laugh.

A little pink and golden light, even if the sky is a bit noisy.


Really liked the wind-scoured snow around here.


Had to wait for the sun to rise over a few extra thousand feet where we were. The snow blowing off the North summit and ridge was especially nice.

Zion is treating me right this winter with all the snow. Exactly what I wished for.
After I was snowshoeing in a blizzard on the 30th, I went back to Kolob Terrace again and wanted to check out how much snow the storm has dumped. It's a winter wonderland right now. I was more than happy

it's mid-April but we still have tons of snow here in the PNW.
I definitely enjoyed my snow day at Mount Rainier

Trail running (post holing) in the hills south of town yesterday. Only a couple inches in some places, over a foot in others. Good round of snow storms earlier this week, and we've had a lot of negative temperatures and single digits. Great early November!
