Album Snow and Winter Shots

No, not here. Water is moving relatively fast & we've had above average temps most of January.
When I visited Brattleboro Dec 15-19 we were able to skate on ponds and they were ice fishing on the slow reach of the West River in town. Big difference.

Brattleboro, thats fairly close to us, probably only thin ice now. It’s been unseasonably warm all of January. The Bald Eagles were hunting at our local lake a few weeks ago, no ice. Now only thin ice, nobody out fishing or skating now.

Funny, I just assumed you were in the intermountain west, Titans! I visit an old friend and his family each Dec. We have a tradition of hiking with skates and sticks on our packs into Kilburn Pond in Pisgah State Park NH. We get ourselves all winded passing a puck and skating end to end across its smooth ice lined with granite shore edges. Quintessential NE to me!

Hiking in Capitol Reef earlier this month. Walked through some patches of snow on the Navajo Knobs trail. Cold weather made for great viewing with the Henrys, the Abajos, and the La Sals visible from the top.

pics above were taken on the mountain in the distance (height is 3600') ... that slope in the middle looks a little fuzzy because they are making snow on it, most likely for next week's holiday crowds. The ski area is spread out over four mountains
