Album Non-Backcountry Photos

I was going to give them to you in March but Tyne pointed out they'd be stale by then. Hope they taste decent.

I need to start carrying my slr in the truck, but this turned out OK for a cell phone snap. Hoarfrost on the front range today. Trees look spectacular.

From a work trip in February to NYC. The first is a view from my hotel, and the others are from the High Line.

So this is pretty nuts. Last night we had a storm and one particular lightning strike was extremely close to the house. So close that when it hit we heard some sort of spark/electrical sound inside. Typically the whole thing was said and done in about half and hour and once the dog stopped spazzing out, we went back to sleep.

This morning I could smell smoke when I went outside. I didn't see any smoke, but it smelled like someone had been having a campfire nearby. We've had a decent amount of rain the last few days though, so I didn't call it in.

This afternoon there's endless amounts of fire/police pulling up to the field behind my house and all of a sudden there is thick smoke everywhere. Apparently whatever I smelled this morning flared back up this afternoon and turned in to a nice sized brush fire here. Everything is ok and I think it's dealt with (plus it's starting to rain), but I got a decent picture of the guys fighting it:

They actually ran it on the Denver news, lol. I'm published!

Beautiful!

Thanks! The ranches around here keep my lust for buying a horse stoked pretty high. I need to win the lottery!

I've had horses all my life, and my last one just died last year of old age. I loved my horses, and they were beautiful intelligent animals, but man, they will really tie you down, and they're very expensive to keep and maintain. My vet bills one year were close to $10,000, primarily because one of my horses had to have colic surgery. Add in the price of grain and hay, tack, things like a farrier and getting teeth floated, plus a pickup and trailer, and you can see where it gets expensive. I also got a couple of concussions and broken bones through the years. My unsolicited advice to people who want to own horses is to just make friends with someone who has a couple and go riding with them. :)

Beautiful photos.

I knew my wife had an account on this site... :p

ROTFL

Tell her to send the money now, I've done as promised. :)

ETA: But I sure had fun when I had them.
