Album Non-Backcountry Photos

The weather has sucked over here. It feels like I haven't seen the sun in days. I did some practicing with the camera indoors today at the Cloisters, a twelfth century complex that was dismantled in Spain and reconstructed here in the 50's. It's a terribly creepy place but was perfect for learning how to deal with low light conditions. I did a terrible job dealing with the light last week so I gave it another shot today.

There were some creepy wooden chairs on this altar last week giving a nice focal point but unfortunately they weren't there today. I wish I could combine the composition I got last week with the camera settings I used today.

I have to pay more attention to standing centered on shots like this.

One of the actual cloisters. You can't tell in the picture but it was snowing in the cloister.

When I saw this thread, I couldn't resist posting some pictures of the best/coolest building in Nebraska (IMO) - Its Capitol building. Just love walking over there from time to time to take another look. Inspired architecture!

This is the dome at the top of the tower above the rotunda.

Dome at the vestibule on the north side of the building.Capitol Dome.jpg

Each of the domes have inscriptions written around the perimeter. One has the Gettysburg address (this is Lincoln after all). One has quotation from Socrates or Plato about the goal good government. The chandeliers are all beautiful too.

About 10 miles from my job there's a nice park in Weehawken, NJ with a nice view of Manhattan. I stopped there after work today and Snapped a few pics before and after sunset. Sunset was at my back.

I don't think I have posted this, Huntington Beach, Ca, in the practice area at the US Championships (1985?), his guy was a complete asshole, showing me he did not appreciate me out there:
