Darnit Ben, I thought maybe you headed down to the Jarbidge Mtns or other northern Nevada spots for a few days but I can't find this spot anywhere near there.

it's no where around either of those.
some hints.
this picture was taken from a peak above 9000'.
the peak pictured is a high point in some category. how ever, while farther away, it is possible to see a much better known high point from the same spot.

Not this time. I first thought of the Mt Lemmon area near Tucson, then I thought of northern NV. Now I am buggered. Nice job.

Over lunch I'll scour the area east of Mt Whitney.

yeah, we hiked to the top of Wildrose since Telescope still had much more snow on it than we were interested in.
here is a photo of the Sierra Crest from the same spot. Whitney should be some where in there.

Looks like the Waterpocket Fold to the right and Navajo Mountain off in the haze. Henry Mountains? From atop Mount Ellen?
