Guess the spot

I'm not really familiar with the Wasatch Plateau - too much atv traffic for me.... I'll guess one of the Tent Mountains. I've always admired the Horseshoes from afar from the west...

Yessiree, that's South Tent Mountain on the left and North Tent on the right. Speaking of the Horseshoes, just yesterday I was eyeballing the Horseshoes Trail 090 on the topo map. It's on my to-do list for this summer, along with North and South Tent.

Great. I will look forward to your pics and post about the Horseshoes Trail. Still need to follow you up the Nipple on the south end of the Plateau yet too. :)

OK, the standard pressure generator: "this should go fast" (implying that you should all know this one instantly.. ):moses:

Name the stream or the valley. Extra credit for the source of the maroon coloration.

First hint - the Wind Rivers... (I was typing this as you did @Rockskipper )

I believe that the coloration is due to biologics and not minerals. Some kind of algae. I have observed virtually NO mining activity in the high country of the Windies - or even in the mid-elevations for that matter. Not like the San Juan's of Colorado at all in that respect.

Gunsight Pass? Is it mineralization from a hot spring? Yeah, I don't think the Winds have any mining activity, so that was based on what I've seen in the San Juans.

I know it's the Winds. I had posted something mean and decided to remove the post. I have no use for the Winds....I'll leave it at that. Next.

No, not Gunsight. The valley is on the west side of the Continental Divide. I guess it could be natural mineralization. I found no hot spring and the stream felt normal cold.

I'm curious, too. Care to elaborate? All I know is the mosquitoes are voracious little blood-sucking sons of biscuits.
