Guess the spot: Utah Edition

Actually, I think it may look more like you're on Buckley Mountain looking over Slate Canyon toward Y Mountain and Timp.

Your first guess is correct. It's just below the summit of (west) Y mountain. Nice! You're up.
Ah, I was thrown by the low peak just beyond Squaw Peak. Right on. I'll have one up in just a bit.

Not sure, but it looks like the one lake a little NW of Amethyst in that same drainage - just a little bit off-trail.

You're right about the range and that there isn't a trail leading to it, but it's a tad farther west than that area.

And it sees pretty good visitation for being off-trail.

The area is accessed from the Mirror Lake Highway, and this lake is only a 2-3 mile walk from a popular trailhead.

Is it Cutthroat Lake?

Okay. Proximity-based SWAG: Teal Lake?

This is a publicly accessible cabin on Forest Service land. What is the name by which it is known?

Okay I think I'm going to have to jump start this thread. The cabin is known as the Fernwood Cabin located along the Kays Creek South Fork Trail above Layton. There are four such cabins in between Bountiful and Weber Canyon. They are the Adams Cabin, Fernwood Cabin, Holmes Cabin and Webb Cabin. My understanding is they were build by locals on Forest Service land and the builder's got caught. Rather than tear them down the owners had to agree to let them be used by the public. Other than this there is very little information on the Internet about them. One post on bosley.com tells of a SAR individual saying there were two more cabins that are unknown to the public. I find this quite the mystery.

Okay here's another picture to get this thread moving again. Where might I find this guy and along what trail might I find him?

Reminds me of a formation along the Frying Pan Trail in Capitol Reef. Couldn't tell you the name of it though.

You got it @Jackson! As far as I can tell it has no name but certainly is unique enough to deserve one. I just call him The Sentinel.

You're up!
