I actually guessed a Uinta lake. The world just shifted on its axis or something. I feel lightheaded.

Where and what is this? And @Udink can't guess until nobody else can get it. He's probably camped on it.

Another hint: The town nearby had a bunch of t-shirts printed with this on it, but they no longer sell them. Maybe they decided it was bad PR or just sold out, I don't know, but I have one. I'm not sure that's much of a hint, but maybe...

Utah Launch Complex by Green River?? Edit to add: Per Wikipedia there is the Green River Uranium Disposal Cell there. Images match the photo of the pile and water tower.

Not the launch complex, but the cell near Green River that holds the waste from the retired uranium mill there. You can see the tower from the highway - it's kind of southwest of the Super 8. You're up @b.stark - nice job!
