On Stansbury Island is correct, so it's yours! This is down low on the west side of the island, looking out to Timpie Valley in the Stansbury Range.Looks like you near Craner Pk...Stansbury Island? That seems too tall
Awww. I was looking the wrong way. Nice I've never been out onto Stansbury before but have seen it from the Craner area.On Stansbury Island is correct, so it's yours! This is down low on the west side of the island, looking out to Timpie Valley in the Stansbury Range.
It's definitely worthwhile when there aren't any biting gnats and there aren't dozens of people shooting down low. Unfortunately, my last trip there had both of those features. I like shooting as much as the next guy, but listening to gunfire the entire hike while swatting at gnats 75% of the time was not pleasant. Haha.Awww. I was looking the wrong way. I've only hiked on Stansbury Island once and it was very nice except that a couple of times a buzzing, tumbling bullet passed overhead or nearby, I suppose after glancing off a rock in a target area nearby. It's definitely worthwhile when there aren't any biting gnats and there aren't dozens of people shooting down low. Seriously. I've only gone shooting there once, and I hauled out more garbage and casings than I brought in. Honestly should've brought several more trash bags. People are terrible, and they don't stop to consider that they may lose the privilege of shooting there if they don't clean up after themselves. Not to mention the vast amount of spent shells, and garbage they don't pick up. Bums me out.
Wow!! Understandable you haven't been back. That's absolutely insane. I think I'll try to get farther out on the north part of the island next time I'm there just so I don't have to hear incessant gunfire and worry about stray bullets.I've only hiked on Stansbury Island once and it was very nice except that a couple of times a buzzing, tumbling bullet passed overhead or nearby, I suppose after glancing off a rock in a target area nearby.
Your first guess is in the neighborhoodLooks kinda Wasatch Plateau-y, and my first thought was near Spinner's Reservoir:

But nope, it doesn't match up.
Maybe Bryce-ish area? That's not a real guess, just hoping to narrow it down.
Winner winner chicken dinner. Here is looking at the nipple from that slope...Got it! West end of Black Mountain, southern slope. You can see the same exposed sediments above and left of Torrey's head in this photo looking north from Mary's Nipple/Molly's Nipple/Musinia Peak (or in this sat image).

Yessir. It's just north of Torrey, on the rim of Holt Draw, looking south-ish toward Boulder Mountain.Edit: but it also looks like you may be above Torrey looking out to Boulder Mountain. I think that one seems more likely. So that's my final answer. I thought that may have been the Ant Hill on the right, but I think it's too small actually.
