Back from our 10-night, 2,637-mile road trip through the Pacific Northwest. Overall it was an excellent trip with fantastic weather. Ironically we didn't see a drop of rain until 10 minutes after getting home today. Looking back on it, we shouldn't have tried to cover as much as we did. It would have been better to stay in one area longer and explore more in-depth. It was still awesome as-is though. The pic below is our last campsite last night at Farewell Bend on the Snake River in eastern Oregon.

Fall backpacking is here! The crowds and bugs have gone, and the fall colors are changing! This may have been the last new moon weekend out there for me before I have to head south for dark skies. You never know, but what I do know is by late September to early October, that usually does it for me backpacking the Uintas. A few more weekends of fun still left to be had. I really enjoyed this weekend trip to Cutthroat. Nothing special or big adventure about it. Just a nice walk, great camp, mellow thunderstorms, and the night sky was the best I have had all season. I did not let this one slip away and enjoyed it to the fullest! Cheers!

Now up to 54 nights with an overnight outside of Yosemite:

As M's tendonitis in her heel continues to be an issue, we have slowly but surely begun to take a few trips this summer. We're way behind our usual average, but things seem to be getting better....and so we thought we would look for a trip that wouldn't put too much stress on her heel. Saddlebag Lake, just east of Yosemite, offered the perfect solution this past weekend.

I broke 50 nights! I'd usually be thrilled to hit 50 by the end of the year! Epic high stress levels made me decide to take Sage and take a trip down to the Swell. Spent a night on the rim of Buckhorn Wash and another out at the end of the Mexican Mountain Road. Also, I am so in love with this camper. So many reasons, but the new favorite is the ability to sleep in late when daytime highs are in the 90's. And that's not running a fan or anything. Just good air flow and shade.
