Album Weather, Storms and Clouds

Blue skies, clouds and iron clad giants in the Ammon foothills.

By the way I know these are not iron clad just my pet name for the beasts. The blades are made of carbon fiber. These beasts fascinate me.

Thunderstorm 6/16/17
The front arrived with 100 mph straight line winds, torrential rain, a 20 degree temperature difference in a distance of 5 miles, and an impressive amount of lightning. It was uncommonly violent. It left behind widespread power outages, extensive tree damage, along with some structural damage on buildings.

Flooded road in San Rafael Swell, not much though... unfortunately :( Just had to wait for about 20 minutes. Can anyone upload pics with real flooding if you have??

I've had the worst luck. Five days at Fry Canyon. Hot and sunny. Ten days home, storms all over that area. Five days at Cathedral Valley, hot and sunny. Been home 3 days and the storms have been rocking the southern deserts. I'm headed for the Wedge in a few days. It should be hot and sunny.

Please post your schedule when you go out so I can follow. I don't like flash floods.

I'm not sure what it means.

It just means you seem to be a fair weather hotspot. Wherever you go, it's sunny, so if I go where you're at, I'll be in good weather.

That last photo is pretty dramatic. We used to go flood chasing when I lived in Moab - wait a few minutes after a big rain, then drive down the river canyon to look for waterfalls.
