Wow, that is crazy it burst. Summer of 2013 I actually saw it dry, but still totally stacked.

I imagine that flash floods can cause drastic and immediate changes. I recently read about a kid going from top down who was killed in a flash flood there last September (2014). When he went in the flow was 49 cfs. Rain caused the flow to increase to more than 4,000 cfs. I would think that that kind of flow could almost wipe the whole canyon clean.
