We shall see this August..... Looks like Scat is changing our trip to go to Younts Peak area.........

Poor ole Ephraim. Deep inside, he was gentle and kind, and misunderstood.

Has anyone ever tried bagpipes on a bear? And does your camera have some kind of laser gun?

There was an old bear named Ephraim,
Who scuttled with one mean Scottish mun,
The Scots mun won, that sunuvvagun,
Cause he lifted his kilt and made Ephraim run.

No laser gun, why do you ask?

Do you mean that if you play bagpipes, then the bear will leave you alone? Or am I in charge of putting a set of bagpipes on a bear?

I think mother nature had bigger hand in changing our destination. I'm excited for this one.

So those who go hiking with @scatman become members of The Scatpack? With matching tattoos? Or just matching kilts?

To be initiated into the Scatpack involves a bit of effort. First, there is the meeting at the Flagpole. This can be a challenge because any flag pole could be the one. . . you just have to be there at the designated time. Next comes the airing of the grievances, soon to be followed by the feats of strength. We adopted those rituals from Hugh's third favorite Christmas season holiday. If one satisfies all the rigors of the pre-hike activities we set off into the woods to see who can climb over the most downfall the fastest. Survive the toils of the backcountry and you will indeed earn the right to have a Scattoo buzzed onto your body part of choice. . . choose the location wisely though because your new ink will be the likeness of a Circus Peanut and you'll want to display it proudly.

Careful, you might just scare @kwc off. :D

hiking in Mount Rainier NP
I still needed microspikes and some trails still have a deep snowpack

I've observed that wherever @Bob goes, outstanding scenery follows. A coincidence? I think not. :)

Bob in his element - making his way up a wildflower covered ridge and onto the Buffalo Plateau, after coming off the ridge behind.

some pun in Mount Rainier NP
I didn't know that I can still jump that high

Looking great! Totally unrelated to this, I was exploring options for a future Desert SW trip and came across these blog entries (day 1, 2, 3) about a trip you happened to be part of. Fun to read and see the photos. :)
