Gave blood this afternoon, so today's hike had to be short and sweet. The summit of Mount Wire was our destination. The wildflowers are starting to pop in the foothills here.

Can you make out the rattlesnake?

Sorry, a bit out of focus as it was returning to its hole in the rocks.

The rattlesnake above reminds me how I love winter trips.
My son in the Books warming feet, drying socks, melting snow.

I didn't remember seeing one in the lower section when I was there in 2019. Amazing how it's placed almost perfectly

I cycled to the top of City Creek Canyon for the 37th year in a row today. It doesn't seem to be getting any easier.

It's that time again, time to donate blood to ARUP, so today's hike with the family was an old standby in Beacon Hill. We did see wildflowers along the trail, particularly false sunflowers which were abundant, and a lot of Sego Lilies on the saddle between Red Butte and Mount Wire. On our way down we saw yet again, another rattlesnake. I'm some kind of rattlesnake magnet this spring/summer.

Which way you going up Lone Peak?

I'm heading up the Cherry Canyon Route to Outlaw Cabin, then I'll head up the upper Willow Creek Drainage, then drop down to the summit ridge, and then make my way to the summit. I might return via the Jacobs Ladder Trail and then loop back to the Cherry Canyon Trail for a little change of scenery.
