Hiked about 1.5 miles along the ridge from Ensign Peak this morning with the Scat family. Some seriously strong, frigid winds were blowing across the ridge and I think we might have been a tad bit under-dressed. The wind eventually forced us to turn around and head home.

Very proud grandfather here .... my oldest grandson's 10U hockey team just won the Alaska State Championship for their age group! And you may notice that the goalie is a girl ... and she's pretty damn good.

After more than 30 years, I went on my first cross country ski race again. It was pretty fun, but the temperature was only 15F and not so much fun for my volcano damaged lungs. I have to find some sort of a face mask I can wear when the temps are really down.
It will definitely not be my last race

Oh my goodness! Go Yvonne!! That should be one of our Meetups, one of these days, so we can cheer you on! Or provide you with hot tea/coco!

You're quick on your feet @Rockskipper. There are three buffalo (er, bison) that had it in for me in the backcountry though. Normally, I don't pay them much attention, but these three had me on high alert.

This young gentleman, we ran into along the Mary Mountain Trail just shy of Mary Lake

Same gentleman, who has gotten up while I tried to take his picture with my medium format camera.

The now irate gentleman, destroying a small lodgepole where me and my camera were positioned just moments before.
He damned near chased us back to Hayden Valley. :scatman:

He wasn't really aggravated at me, he just scared the bajesus out of me while I was walking down the trail.
I wasn't feeling well on the last day of this trip and as I was making my way along just finishing crossing
Pelican Valley, I met him at a turn in the trail, with him heading my way. I only had time to step over a
downed log as he passed. I could have reached out and pat him on his side if I had dared to. I got my
camera out of the case and took this shot just after he passed me. Whew!

This is the largest Bison I have ever seen in Yellowstone. My son and I ran into him on
our way out along the Wapiti Lake Trail. He ended up getting up and moving us along
our way. I think my son still has nightmares about this one. :)

If any of these three were the one you were able to tame, then more power to you. I'm impressed!
If I'd only thought to use the BCP greeting, I'd have been just fine. :) Unfortunately, all these
trips were before I knew BCP existed. :(
Holy bejeebus...
I want to see one...at a considerable distance...

Hiked up Avenues Twin Peaks this morning with Scatwoman and there is still quite a bit of snow on the north side of the summits. We just headed straight up the south summit, then popped over to the north, before heading back down the old Jeep road on the north side. We encountered almost crotch deep on our way down. Last year, and two weeks earlier, we only ran into a touch of snow along the ridge.

Clever eh? :uhhuh: Ran out of deer pellets so I had to finish with small rocks on top.

Finished! :)

harumph.....I refuse to be out-kilted by @scatman on St. Paddy's Day of all days. I don't have a good pic from today, but here's at the Ren Fest last year (I'm the one on the left, in case you were wondering!)
