How was the trail? Fine with just microspikes? Thinking about going this Thursday.

You'll need micro-spikes just beyond Suicide Hill as you reach the conifers. There was only one tricky spot in the draw to the top with the ice and snow, but you will do fine.

Serious training has begun! I've upped my day pack to 30 lbs., which includes one 10 pound sandbell and a second one weighing 8 pounds for my hikes around the Salt Lake area this spring.

I had put in for a permit to hike the John Muir Trail with my son this summer, but I was not lucky enough to draw one from the lottery back in January. So instead, we are going to attempt the Theodore Solomon's Trail which roughly parallels the JMT through the Sierras. It is approximately 272 miles in length and we will begin our trip at Horseshoe Meadow (about 11.3 miles, as the crow flies, southeast of Mount Whitney) and end at Glacier Point in Yosemite.

On top of Jack's Mountain yesterday with my two hiking companions. Buddha seems to be impressed. :scatman:

I am actually NOT a fan of either taking my own picture... or getting stuck in other people's photo attempts. However from time to time I do end up in some... so here are a few.

This is at the summit of Santa Fe Baldy last weekend. It has been warm here last few weeks, so perfect time to get a hike in.

A couple from Joshua Tree last month (The weather was perfect too!).

Next major trip for me is The Needles next month.
