Well, it's time for a knee update! I'm sure everyone is just dying to know.
I saw the surgeon last Friday morning and he allowed me to start walking on my right leg again with the assistance of two crutches through the weekend. Today (Monday), I have lost one crutch and can walk with one crutch for the next week. After that, I am good to ditch the crutches once and for all.
He told me that my knee looked good and that my range of motion is extremely good. I can start adding a little more resistance to the stationary bike now, and I can lower the seat back to where it is comfortable for me to spin. He told me it would probably take three or four months for the swelling to completely go away, and that I'd have some up days and some down days as far as knee pain was concerned as it adjusts to my body weight. He also told me that I could start doing some light hiking in the foothills by mid-February, and then some more aggressive hikes by mid-March. I'll be in physical therapy at least until mid-March to strengthen the knee. Oh, and he also mentioned no squatting for four months. Also after this week I'll be able to drive again.
