On 5/20/17 I had the pleasure of summiting UPWOP the nickname given to the unnamed Peak west of Pfeifferhorn.

On 5/27/17 I had the pleasure of summiting Lone Peak for the first time.

Two more pictures from my Lone Peak adventure. The first is a picture taken through a hole in the snow on top of a ridgeline near the summit.

The second is to show the ridgeline where the first picture was taken.

Thanks! No not this time. Just wanted to get to the summit. That looks pretty sweet though. I'm going to have to try that one of these days. Perhaps I will give it a go in the summer first.

Nice to get the snowshoes out and enjoy the beautiful snow again.

Getting over some nasty cold so I was slow and super tired after this short hike to Lower Palisades. So good to get back out.

Bryce and Zion...okay any national park is my absolute favorite with a dash or more of snow. The best.

The cold temps lately (5F when this pic was taken) have made the Missouri River very icy of late. It's fascinating to hike along the river in these conditions and watch the ice dance and see the steam rise from the "warm" water. The river is low this time of year, which makes it braided between sandbars, so as you look into the distance some of the ice flows seem to go in opposite directions. The heat from the river distorts the views into the distance. It makes for a truly mesmerizing effect.

Did you use a polarizing filter for this? I have a hard time getting nice photos of ice, I'd be interested in suggestions/tips.
