Album Rock Art and Ruins

Big Island, HI has a lot of rock art as well.
I found quite a bit of rock art in some ancient lava tubes and caves or in close vicinity of these lava tubes. I can't wait to be back to explore more of it.
There are hundreds of lava tubes and caves crisscrossing Hawai'i Volcanoes NP.

If you ever visit Mt. St. Helens, I highly recommend the lava tubes at Ape Caves.

Part of an amazing petroglyph panel in the Lower Paria River Canyon. Paria Canyon-Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness, AZ

Many more panels and boulder rock art in this remarkable stretch of canyon.

These petroglyphs are a drastic contrast to the panels found in the Upper Paria where both Cave Valley Style-esque pictographs and archaic/ancestral puebloan petroglyphs are found.

on my bucket list for next year when it's the 40th anniversary of the eruption.
I love crawling through lava tubes.
We have some on the Big Island that are 40 miles long.
And many have rock art panels in them
40 miles??? wow! And I thought the upper tube was long at 1.5 miles:lol:

Some of those remind me of some really old ones I've seen on Stansbury Island. Very cool!
Jackson. How do you get to those on stansberry? I tried to go out there and it was all posted
