Pre-trip Preparation

Fun pre-trip thread! Can tell this group has done this before...

Learning a lot. Couldn't find a 2.5 lb pack as good as that GG Latitude Vapor. May borrow some of these food ideas. Tried using the infamous Ramen (w/o flavor pack) or potato flakes with freeze dried veggies and chicken plus low sodium bouillon. Actually wasn't terrible. :p
I just snagged an new one off of ebay for $63 ............ Im stoked, ....... I think my old GG Latitude vapor was being held together by my wifes sewing.... Been watching ebay for years for that pack

Best instant potatos are Iahoan brand. 4oz, 110 cal.

Alright, my last training hike before heading off next week.

I decided Mount Wire in the heat would do the trick.

So I forgot my base plate for my camera, which means that I could not attach it to my clip, so I used the old @TractorDoc method
of carrying my camera instead. I'm an idiot!

The Subaru and a Jeep were the only two vehicles left at the trailhead when we got back. This is like Godzilla vs. King Kong
@Rockskipper ! :D

I'm figuring the 2200 foot climb today should get me ready for the 950 foot climb to Majo Pass, and the 1380 foot climb to the saddle between Thorofare Mountain and Younts Peak.

The End.

I'm trying to decide if it is my carrying method that is idiotic or. . . nah, couldn't be the other. ;)

You should have hoisted the 600mm lens on that camera before you started carrying it around. :D

I keep telling you guys he’s got two badgers hidden in there. He’s going to send them out on night recon to find food for him so he doesn’t have to carry it.

ETA keep your packs in your tents with you at all times when not carrying them.

You guys keep posting pics on here of all your yummy stuff and who's to say you're not gonna get waylaid out on the trail by someone reading this? Like maybe the Rockskipper Gang. (Do any of you carry Tom's Toothpaste? We ran out.)

We'll be keeping an eye out for that Rockskipper Gang. They could be lying in wait anywhere along our route - scallywags each and every one of them.

The ranger(s) at the Thorofare Ranger Station better be ready for us.
I bet they roll out a red carpet for us!

Edit: Or, they may lock and bar the door when they see us coming.

If anyone is even there, that is. :)

Word travels fast in the GYE, and everyone knows you're coming. Many preparations are being made as we speak...
