Pre-trip Preparation

so Peak Refuel stuff is legit good?

a while ago I saw their meals featured so prominently and gratuitously in a couple youtube backpacking videos that I decided they must be paying people for exposure, which rubs me the wrong way if it's not clear that there's some paid promotion going on, so I avoided them. but maybe time to try them out?

I haven't had a bad one yet, and their Beef Stroganoff is my favorite freeze dried meal by anyone.

I am by no means a You-Tube Influencer, nor do I get paid for positive product feedback.

I have no problem making a recommendation if I like something -- that is the case for the Peak Meals.

The Beef Pasta Marinara might be my favorite dinner, and I think Peak's Biscuits and Gravy puts Mountain House's to shame (sorry @Bob :) ).

Don't overlook the Mendes meals either if you are looking to try something a little exotic.

Give one or two a taste. . . this weekend I taste tested some new flavors before taking them on the trail next week. The Backcountry Bison Bowl has a nice Southwest flavor vibe going for it.

ok thanks @TractorDoc and @scatman!
I kind of need a new brand anyhow, since at present I find Mtn House and its friends to be kind of a necessary evil (necessary convenience?).
the only brand of freeze-dried stuff that I currently look forward to eating, as opposed to sort of tolerating, is Packit Gourmet.

Okay @Rockskipper, we need a word for our upcoming trip. "Epic'" has already been used. I think this qualifies as pre-trip preparation. :)

So what made you think those bears were talking about you? LOLOL
Must have been when the one bear said "What a tool!" :roflmao:

When I think of this upcoming trip, the word that comes to mind first is RAIN.
When I signed up Hugh promised there would be no rain on this trip. Come to think of it, he promised me that last year too.

You may have compromised the entire mission Skipper! Of course, @Bob is good for a day's worth of deluge, and @TractorDoc is not far behind with his off-trail rain up Broad Creek and his slow killing drizzle on our death march through Pelican Valley last year. If it must RAIN, then spare us on our ascent of Majo Pass, and our descent of Turner Fork.

Bears always talk about me, or so they tell me. :)
